Solei is a traditional rhythm and song from Guinea played for circumcisions and competitions. Solei features Missia Saran Dioubate singing in Malinke and Susu, languages from the Mande people. The sound of the Balafon (African xylophone), played by Master Bala musician Famoro Dioubate, and the grounded bass, played by Sekou Dioubate, immediately transports the listener to this ancient village. The rhythm elevates when the djembe drums enter propelling the music forward. Missia calls out and the singers respond in a timeless and beautiful melody encouraging you to sing along.
